Dawn has been working with fiber for most of her life. Learning to crochet at a young age, inspired and taught by her Mom and Grandmother, she continues to use the craft to inspire others. One of her earliest childhood memories was that of selling her "pom-pom crafts at the end of the driveway, while the other kids were selling plain, old lemonade - BORING!".

Her business originally began as Auntie Dawn's Afghans, creating beautiful and functional baby blankets. They have snuggled newborns and toddlers alike, and have been sent to new and expecting Mom's over North America! Once she noticed that the demand was there, she gradually added items such as full sized afghans, scarves, hats and other fun accessories. It was then that she decided that it was time for "Auntie Dawn's Afghans" evolve into "doe Studio". The studio's name came from the nickname her husband calls her (she knows she's in trouble when he calls her by her real name!). Rarely does Dawn use a pattern (unless she is learning a new technique) and has touted the internet as an "endless supply of information and inspiration". Since patterns aren't often found in her arsenal, most pieces are unique and one of a kind. However, if you see something that you do like, chances are she can replicate the item for you! She loves to work with fibers of all kinds and loves the texture and instant gratification that only crochet can provide. She strives to create a beautiful and professionally finished piece every time. Where ever humanly possible, she uses a knot-free joining method called "Russian Joining", this ensures that there are no bulging knots or unsightly stray bits of yarn.
More recently, Dawn added Macro Nature Photography to her line up of items, when she discovered that the artistic "eye" had been passed on to her down the very talented family tree.  Self-taught and learning through trial and error, she has found that photography has provided her with a whole new creative outlet that allows her to "get outside and enjoy nature's greatest gifts...up close. Really close."  Another fun pass-time is turning into an obsession, she has also added pendants to the list! Scrabble Tile pendants and now hand cut Glass Tile Pendants have arrived to her shop shelves! Her inspiration and constant desire to "be creative" keeps the inventory fresh and ever-changing.
Dawn currently runs a shop on Etsy, keeps a blog and stays in touch with customers through her doe Studio Facebook Fan Page.
